Strange People Putty morph behavior
« on: August 30, 2009, 10:35:54 am »
I had something strange happen in People Putty this morning. Normally, in the morph section, when you double click on the morphs, the head will change to that shape. But this one time, i had the clown morph active, and i selected another morph, the clown shape was retained while also adding the shape of the new morph i had selected. I tried all the different morphs, fish, bug, cat, etc. Each time the clown shape was combined with the new shape. I hope i explained that properly.

After restarting PP, i haven't been able to duplicate this behavior. Anyone else ever had this happen? I don't know what caused this, perhaps something to do with click speed or dragging the mouse while clicking. It would be great if we could combine different morphs on demand. For example, fish and cat.

Any thoughts on this by the PP experts here?

Regards
Davy

It was probably just a fluke. Especially if it hasn't happened again.
Computers are crazy, and so are we for continuing to use them. But I can't stop.

Hi lightspeed

I suppose my fluke could have been caused by computer overload, sometimes a long session in PP will max out my system. I will be adding more ram soon.

I discovered something related to this issue. There are some hap files in the PP scripts folder, for example, ros.hap, pig.hap, chimp.hap, ogre.hap, etc. If i load one of these from the file-load menu, then this shape will be combined with the morph selected from the shapes menu.

That is normal. Those shapes take over mostly.

Hi Jack

I know that's normal in PP, but i just discovered it. I also discovered that it's possible to combine more than two morphs with this option. I examined these hap files, and they are all basically the same, except for the morph name. Here is an example ...

#Haptek  Version= 2.00 Name= ogre.hap   HapType= script FileType= text
## world NewCharacter

##prereqmorphs= ogre
\clock [t= 0.0] \setmorph[figure= standard state= ogre f0= 1 f1= 0 f2= 0 ]

I have no idea what the f0, f1, and f2 entries are. I may try changing the values just to see what happens. [:)]

I did a quick little test, editing the girl1.hap file.

#Haptek  Version= 2.00 Name= girl1.hap   HapType= script FileType= text
## world NewCharacter

##prereqmorphs= girl1
clock [t= 0.0] setmorph[figure= standard state= girl1 f0= 1 f1= 0 f2= 0 ]

Changing the values to these ...

clock [t= 0.0] setmorph[figure= standard state= girl1 f0= 3 f1= 3 f2= 3 ]

Here is the result, the original shape is on the left.
