Why won't Hal learn from Text files?

I recently downloaded Hal onto my computer. I currently have the demo program.  I was considering an upgrade, but I don't understand why he won't learn from text files. I have tried to teach him by text, but he does not remember what he reads.  Why??????  The only way he will learn from me is if I type it in one sentence at a time, If this is the case, why, then does he have the text reading capability?? I have tried copying and pasting to his box, but it will only take one sentence at a time. I would like to add that I find he learns quickly, otherwise.

I'm having the same problem. When I first loaded the program a few weeks ago it would read any file. Now I keep getting error messages. Says, having error in line 47 or something like that. What message are you getting?
