Could anyone do this?
« on: February 25, 2004, 08:57:36 am »
being as hale is the talking program it is . and it can make decisons and answer questions. can anyone program one for me that can teach algerbra and correct me when i miss spell and use improper sentence structure?  it would just have to have all the information on those subjucts in it , right? I like this program but have no clue on how to program. it would be nice if I could have an at home tuter that could answer my quiestions when I dont understand a math problem. I see hale as an opertunity for that. i believe it is perfectly possable. well tell me what you think, and maybe someone will take this on as a project . If you do please let me know. [^]

Hello,

Yes, Hal can be programmed to tutor.  It requires programming know-how and a LOT of labor-hours of work!

Some months ago, I posted quite a few demo versions of Hal brains with various capabilities to show off the various things that Hal could do (but doesn't presently do yet).

Those postings are probably far-down on the list of postings by now, but you could find them by going to my profile, and searching for all my postings.  I do remember posting a demo brain that could give a quiz and give feedback on how well the user did on the quiz!

The purpose of those demo brains was to give programmers ideas for various capabilities that could be added to Hal.

Sincerely,

Don

Hello Courtisananndorra,

I decided to look up my old posting and re-comment it.  You should find it among the current postings on this section of the forum.  Hopefully it illustrates some approaches that will help you or other users and programmers to develop the types of capabilities that you envision.

Sincerely,

Don
