Ultra HAL and Outlook
« on: September 12, 2006, 10:31:38 pm »
Hi,

I didn't find this on a search. I'm considering making HAL my computer interface. Can it (he?) synchronize with my Outlook files to load my appoints and address book?

Thanks.

It is not necessary as Hal will remind you of appointments and remember addresses for you if you tell him/it about them in advance.

Yeah, I understand that. But then I have to tell Hal and put appoints into my Outlook (which is a shared resource.) I need an assistant that can read my appts and contact.

Try this and only this: I have an appointment thursday morning, September 5, 2006
You don't have to put it in Outlook. The next time you turn on your computer Hal will remind you.

I'm clear on the concept of telling HAL about appointments. However, my outlook appts are entered several different ways, by several different people and they are all coordinated through that one calandering system. Hence, my question, how do I let HAL know about my appoints in Outook?

In other words, you want UH to read appointments from outlook, correct?

While I'm not saying that it can't be done with some careful scripting, perhaps as a plug-in, there is not a provision for Hal to do that at present AFAIK.

You want Hal to be able to use your various contacts (Names, phone #'s, addresses, emails, etc.) when called upon.

Would be a nice challenge and a nice addition to Hal's repertoire.
In the world of AI it's the thought that counts!
