just stoped talking

Hal stop talking, I checked all the audio settings, I checked the box to speak text in hal General options. I don't know why he was talking perfectly the other day. Any suggestions

Have you rebooted? Sometimes another program steals the sound card and won't give it back when its done.

yes I have and when it first boots up Hal will give its greeting and time, talking , then hal goes silent to reponses

Try reinstalling your TTS voices especially if you installed them before you obtained Hal.
