No Skin option?
« on: December 11, 2007, 07:52:08 pm »
Is there a way to make the window 100% transparent or have no window at all? I realize from a programming perspective the issue is window focus. IE: when the user types (or talks), how does hal know when the data is meant for hal versus another program?

While I could brainstorm a few ideas (say or type "Hal" (User defined)... no window focus or modal window = hal intercepts input, etc...), I was wondering if anyone has made a plugin to address this?

CyberBuddy and Deskbot have windowless interfaces, but they dont listen. They only announce events and read popup windows.

CyberBuddy does have speech rec option in ver.3 & 4.

It might be possible to make a transparent skin for Hal
and combine it with a non character window.

Usually Hal acts on certain "key" words or phrases like:
Open, Run, Search, Find, etc.

Hal does have an appointment calendar and will remind the
user as the time approaches as well as phone book and
a huge reference libray of data, not to mention that Hal's
brain is now in the form of a database instead of individual
brn or brain files as was present in previous versions.

BTW, Welcome to the forum!!
In the world of AI it's the thought that counts!

A couple of years ago someone made a miniture 'skin'. it was a very small box only used to enter text into and showed Hals reply to.
I meant to copy it but it got away before I could. Not sure how much history we keep here but it might still be in here somewhere.
