How to control the character talking speed

Can anyone tell me how to control the speed of the character's speech?

In the control panel, Speach, tab Text to speach there is a slider that controls the reading speed.  I'm not sure if this has been done for Hal, certianly not in the Hal we use but someone may have made a plugin for this, try doing a search.

Yeah I remember being able to adjust the speed of the voice in some programs, I think it all depended on the actual voice you use too.  Don't think I have seen this in Hal either, but Carl's suggestion seems to indicate you could control the default voice that Hal uses.

Can't try it out at the moment as I just did a fresh install on this PC and Hal's not on it yet.
