Ultra Hal Speech

I have downloaded and installed Ultra Hal 5.0 beta. Now, I managed to install it ok, but when I started it up, and spoke to it, I didn't hear any sounds as it spoke. Now usually I would expect it to have voices, and it said it did, so when it didn't speak, well, as you can guess, I was a bit upset.

This could be a bug, or something. Has anyone else had this problem and possibly does anyone know how I can get Hal to speak?
