Ultra Hal Assistant File Sharing Area / eugene's fashion request

I like the yellow one because:

1 It's banana yellow, the happiest color
2 It's a suit AND a dress that
3 can be peeled off

Don't go to clothing yet! There are still more options with the face. I wonder if it is possible to load 4000 x 4000. I'm concerned with the lips and eyebrows. I'm saying that the skin looks more real but the eyebrows, lips, and even the irises still have that haptek look. Remember, you are leading the way to new possibilities by exploring textures where haptek didn't. You should match the lipstick to a more mature tone. In fact, I would ask a woman on makeup. Don't move on until you've made the eyes more realistic! Photograph someone's eyes if you have to.</nitpick> I think you're doing great work!

I saw this A.J. face in one of your previous posts with a small picture. To tell you the truth, I wasn't all that impressed. But here in this picture I can see it is really good work. This leapard set is nicely coordinated, matching everything masterfully. Women are naturals with this. When men design outfits and makeup there is a chance for it to get... awful ly interesting.

General Discussion / why does my skin reject the button pics?
« on: January 04, 2006, 07:50:15 pm »
Okay, thank you all for the assistance. Here are the results. I believe the buttons can be named anything. It is absolutely critical that the jpeg sizes match the defined parameters in the uhp. The 481 error will occur if the jpeg is too large. I don't know what will happen if the jpeg is too small. Also, the jpeg must be rgb or else there will be visible errors. However, if it is a bmp then it will resize itself to the parameters.

I'm going to have to go back and resize everything. It was that photoshop measuring tool. It reads a 4 x 4 box as 3 x 3. Therefore all my sizes and positions were off by 1.

The angels are not crying anymore.

Scratch, Dr. Benway - the x was allowed in my last skin. I add the x because the pic is used when the area is clicked. I will try removing the x as well as shorter names. And I will make .bmp's. Freddy888, you might have a point. iirc the character background pics were allowed to scale, but that might not be the case with the rest of the pics. I will post the results...

All files seem to be in the right place and the code looks flawless. I even checked for unwanted spaces and such. All four buttons refuse to load and cause error 421 in lines 23, 24, 25, and 26. (invalid picture) The jpegs are mode rgb, 8-bit, compression 8. I can't accept this. Have you had this problem? This is making me feel betrayed by UltraHal! Look, it's raining outside because the angels are crying.

General Discussion / Help with color definition in .uhp skin files
« on: January 02, 2006, 06:21:17 am »
Thank you both, Freddy888 and Carl2. I haven't messed with hexidecimals enough to know. They do not related to 256 in the way we might think. Dr Benway discovered the solution. And I was mean enough to criticize eyelashes.htr.

The .uhp file uses the Audrey Hepburn method:

+ [green x 256] + [blue x 256 x 256] = color definition

Use this spell and the magic rainbow will rain hard pieces of candy. I think I shall search the archives for your skins to study.

Ultra Hal Assistant File Sharing Area / GUI skin 001 - placid frame

This skin sacrifices a little bit of functionality for structure. I'm not sure if the mic button works, but it should. (I don't have any sr installed so I can't check.) I know that appreciation is favored over criticism in this forum (you should see the howdesign forum) so I have made the photoshop file available to you if you see something that you would like to change, such as color.
The normal size fits 800 x 600 and is limited to a matching background. You should have arial and arial bold. If you have >windowsXP then you very most likely have these fonts. This is my first skin. Thanks to Art for providing the base, and thank all you programmers, skinners, and testers for viewing.

I don't understand how to input values for background and foreground colors in the input and output boxes. I could see that six digits would mean something like ff00ff. But there are eight digits and sometimes seven.

;Coordinates and color of Hal's output box
SkinHalBGColor=10266780  <--- ???
SkinHalFGColor=16777215  <--- ???
SkinHalFontName=Arial
SkinHalX=497
SkinHalY=166
skinhalWidth=164
skinhalHeight=74

Ultra Hal Assistant File Sharing Area / Haptek fullbody editor
« on: December 28, 2005, 03:44:50 pm »
The format you are looking for is .jhp and you will have to guess which. They will be inside the haptek folder in a temporary folder called hap_temp. If there are no such files then load a custom fullbody and check again. Double-click the .jhp and choose to open it with haptek player (be careful to check or uncheck the open-default box, whichever you choose). Haptek Player will open it.

Thank you everyone!

The character is very nice, GrantNZ. The freckles on her cheeks, her complexion, and her lips create a solid brunette. You've successfully matched her to a pleasantly valid and soft presence.

Basic and straight-forward as an interface should be, with clear purpose. A matching black bg for the figure window would match the text boxes, even if it makes her pants disappear. If you don't mind, I will download this to study.
