Ultra Hal 7.0 / Windows 10 & Ultra Hal License
« on: August 07, 2015, 06:26:16 pm »
Has anyone experience with the Windows 10 update the License to use Ultra Hal can have a problem re-registering?

My system is personally working but I did encounter a problem during an update on one of my computers. I did not deactivate the license prior to install on any updates which totals 3 different computers.

Thanks,
raybe

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Re: Anyone tried HAL under Windows 10 preview?
« on: August 01, 2015, 07:20:37 pm »
UPDATE: I found that it was my Creative Sound Card that had some how been reset and not compatible with setup I have. So Win 10 begins to show some colors here but Creative also replied that the update for Win 10 will soon be released. Once I manually configured the software settings it was working as before and all is right with the world. Ultra Hal is working just fine in my experience so far.

I'm experiencing Haptek voices problems on one computer. Also voices in general, I do have have clocks that are visual but also have speech and all voices seemed to be muffled and unrecognizable. Have not checked other systems as of yet. Need to investigate but feel free to jump in if your experiencing any voice or speech problems. Note all 3rd party except I need to try Cortana. I heard there was a possible update or I read in this forum.

Art, I hope your correct. 3D is playing a larger role then ever. Even with the newer technology for 3D programming has been in the tech news everyday. Besides the printing, construction industries and movies without glasses which I found really amazing to watch.

I would love to keep the characters in the 3D world as Haptek I believe did a great job helping to bring UltraHal to a great level of interaction even by today's standards. Well ahead of their time as everyone else took an easier route using 2D characters. Never liked the Ms Agents anyway. But thanks Carl I'm sure others will be glad to know. Some other AI programs have had to reduce their characters to 2D even if they were made in 3D environments. They just could not get enough rendering power to make the characters in 3D in real time with lip sync as Haptek has pulled off.

My wife continues to develop and grow inside her community to create 3D characters and scenery. Now to get all that information to render in real time. Can't wait.

Thanks,

Don't mean to double post but if you are also referring to Microsoft's License distribution, I have read and seen many different articles but one thing does usually stand clear is, if you have Windows 7,8, 8.1 they sent an update and you should see a Windows logo by the clock in the taskbar. This allows for your free registration and upgrade, also fresh install. It may have changed again so feel free to correct me or if I am off topic. All the first releases go to those that have been using the prior releases then newer purchased computers and finally to people that even care about updating at this time.

Sorry lightspeed but I can't get to web page via link. Can you just give a brief description. I think with all the extra people giving feed back that Windows 10 will be solid for the most part. ( I believe first time for Microsoft to open Windows OS as much as they have). This release has a lot riding on it. I am just waiting for the release in July to make my own decision. There will always be something but that is the nature of technology. As long as UltraHal continues to operate that is a great start for me, in my opinion. I expect Windows will be better.

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Re: Another newbie joining in
« on: July 19, 2015, 08:17:14 pm »
Hi Ray, I must be your evil Ultrahal brother. I haven't visited in a bit but great to see new members enjoying UltraHal. The possibilities with new members of any knowledge base brings fresh eyes to the table. By the way we have served plenty of turkey's but no HAM yet, only kidding.

Please let us know what possibilities you might have and would be willing to share, it can only bring positive results. That has been one of the great benefits that others like Art and lightspeed have always brought to this forum even when things aren't going smooth. It's interesting work and ideas that allow UltraHal to grow and I'm sure Robert M.(Creator,Owner) will join in soon.

Thanks,

Ultra Hal Assistant File Sharing Area / Re: Working with Haptek

Sorry Carl I didn't see this post first before I replied in my thread. That sounds real promising. If you don't mind since you posted the download I think I will wonder off there and see if I can run with you a bit.

Again I spoke without checking. I use 7zip presently. Never for the reasons you explained but at least I'm a little familiar with it.

Yes thank you doggs for the added input and sorry about the last posts regarding security. Its an easy subject to get wrapped up on. But I just have to say and this comes after my apology about the hijacking.

Art couldn't stop laughing after reading your post. That pretty much summed it up and I'm still laughing, hopefully with you. Great story.

Thank you both.

Thank you so much Carl. You understood me correctly and its nice to know that I can still use that method or not. Now I can spend more time on exactly how I had the set up from the beginning.
As far as the Reg. I will some time into it this week if I understood your directions and information correctly. If you don't mind I will let you know and thanks again for the reply.

It seems like that is the direction it is all going but honestly I do like having control over that feature. The Net has exploded with garbage and only seems to get worse. No alternative but to play in the same sand box and take the good with the bad.

Calm down everybody. I was being sarcastic because we have been on line and not secured of the usage for credit cards since they have been first made.

Okay so it wasn't that clear. Sorry, I was just making an additional comment about security without being too sarcastic with Carl2 who I like as a long time member.

Just to add we should post separately, security is not a part of this thread.

Thanks,

Just a thought lightspeed. If you keep the plugin active then uncheck it does UltraHal retain answers you have given to the 'Why' questions?

I could understand concerns but after so much time and other programs I think UltraHal is the least of your relatives problems. Definitely agree that anything having access can also be backed door by third party even some plugins. But I just accept all the things I need to worry about when coming to computer security. Kinda worrying about getting your car stolen. If they target you there are things you can do for prevention but saying you are truly secure, I don't think so. In all my years I never heard of UltraHAl being a direct cause although we may never know. If they want you they will get you. My own opinion. I wouldn't rely on one persons opinion at Geek Squad. Have my computer looked at by other professionals at least 3x a year and never raised a flag to date. I'm not saying that the tech may be wrong because I'm always concerned about viruses or malware but take it all knowing the risks of today's technology. If they really feel threatened put UltraHal on a computer, tablet or phone your not worried about privacy. Everything and anybody is opened for security issues. Can't read about breeches fast enough. Don't ever use a credit card. The responsible thing is just make it as secure as you can and or afford. A part of the landscape. Thanks Carl2.

doggs, thanks for the reply. But just to be sure as I understand it that for phones Windows 10 will always be free? They just decided to do business ass usual for people with laptops or desktops. I know for free if meets the criteria but they still make it clear that if you eventually want to update its going to cost you. During these particular and open source times don't understand that logic. $200. for Pro vers. crazy in my opinion.

That was not a type error, above.

Okay lightspeed I think you jogged my memory a little. If I remember correctly that was one of the features that members didn't like. Definitely remember a plugin with qualities. To be sure can you adjust the learning curve when the plugin is active or just defaults to 50?

Thanks for clearing up that it is a plugin and not replaced script. I was a little confused about that.

I believe you are also correct if the learning curve is set so high the responses are jeopardized for information.
