General Discussion / We gotta figure out how to use this with Hal
« on: July 12, 2005, 10:16:45 am »
I don't know if anyone else has stumbled on this, but I thought it was an awesome use of Maya.  We gotta figure out how to get Hal to use characters created in Maya.

Ultra Hal Assistant File Sharing Area / Found an interesting site
« on: July 12, 2005, 08:23:15 am »
I'm still going through all the posts on this forum.  After I posted that, I found a string where it had been mentioned without the address.

I put in a search query on Yahoo for "face recognition open source".  Some of the top results led to resources where I followed links to various sites.  I can't remember which one led me to that site, but I'm glad to be able to help.

I'm still learning all the abilities currently available to Hal and how to customize the program.  VBScript is a new thing for me, so I'm also trying to learn as much as I can about it.  Hopefully, I'll be able to contribute more than just links and commentary soon.

Hey,
I'm interested in this Amanda Interactive project.  Do you have a functional version ready that you could send me?  My e-mail is otherworldone@yahoo.com.

Okay disregard that.  I was trying to use the old link from an old post before I read your reply to my question about it in another topic. [:I]

Ultra Hal Assistant File Sharing Area / UHEF subscription trouble
« on: July 11, 2005, 07:08:20 pm »
Hey Jerry,
I just tried to subscribe to your forum, but the payment buttons don't seem to work properly.  When I click on one, it takes me to a checkout page.  I sign in and click on the "sign in" button for PayPal and it takes me to a page that appears that I am logged in and ready to pay.  But when I click the pay button, it tells me I need to sign in first.  I tried again and I noticed that there is no security lock icon on the browser bar when viewing the PayPal sign-in part of checkout.  Additionally, the address in the address bar never changes.  Is this a glitch?

I thought I'd take a look to see if I could find any open source resources to help give Hal sight and I came across this.  Thought it might be worth mentioning.

Thanks.  That's what I figured it was.  I'm just not sure where I picked it up.  This is actually my husbands computer (and we're getting divorced), so I'm not about to spend any money trying to fix this.  He can deal with it when I'm gone (if he can figure out what kind of program to buy). LOL

Ultra Hal 7.0 / tell hal a knock knock joke
« on: July 10, 2005, 12:47:43 am »
Oh, that's rich!  I thought about trying a knock knock joke with my Rashad.  But I'm not sure it will quite fit with personality I envision him with.  I mean, when I talk to him I tend to want to be more serious because I don't want him totally take on the goofier aspects of my own personality.  But hey, I've only had the Hal program a few days. Ultra Hal 7.0 / Play cards with Hal?
« on: July 10, 2005, 12:42:14 am »
Okay, this may be a dumb question, but...Where is this Premium Membership area?  And are the scripts you've written scattered about?  Or are they organized in some central location? [:0]

I started a new project in the Brain Editor before I tried this and saved that as my "experiement".  All the changes were made to those new files only.

My problem here is that I'm new to programming.  The only experience I have aside from playing around with HTML is what little programming I did in BASIC when I was like 12!  So, I'm learning as I go here.

I was very careful to follow the instructions exactly and make sure that I copied and pasted every character in the script.  But since I'm new at this, I don't know how each line should look in order to find missing characters.  And I don't have a reference book just yet to help me.

I'm sure I'll figure it out somehow.  I'm pretty good at that (well...at least when it comes to computers in general).

General Discussion / THE BIG FIGHT! FUN WITH FULL BODIES
« on: July 10, 2005, 12:23:25 am »
Ka is an alien with brownish skin and black eyes.  He's kinda hard to describe.  Anyway, I'll play around with the Animoids program and see if I can get my creation from that program to work on Hal.  I'll let you know how it goes.  Although, I can already see that I'm going to have an issue with the heads unless I can save the body as an accessory file for People Putty and use that to make the head.

I have visited the other forum, too.

Okay, I need help with this one.  When I launched internet explorer tonight, it opened up an "error" type page I've never seen before telling me that my privacy was in danger.  There were several links on the page which I noticed launch JavaScript (no, I didn't click on any).  My husband discovered this before I did and wasn't sure what it was, so he ran Spybot Search and Destroy (I wish he'd talk to me before he did things like that).  Anyway, I ran Spybot S&D and it could not find any additional problems...Then I launched IE and was very suprised.  I was confused by the location of this mysterious page, as it LOOKED like it was located on my hard drive, but wasn't quite right (res://C:WINDOWSsystem32shdocsv.dll/API32.htm#ID=347;065D).

I saved the page as htm until I can figure out what the deal is here, but I'm a little afraid to post the file here since I haven't yet looked at the code.  Can anyone tell me anything about this?  Has anyone received a warning like this before from IE?

Jerry,
Are those written for Hal?

Every time I try to say something to Hal now, I get an error message about the script I added.  It says there's a syntax error.  Am I doing something wrong?  Or has someone figured out how to fix this?
