The default events are contained in a table called "UserEvents" which can be seen under "miscData" in the brain editor. It should show up in the event editor in Hal Assistant also.

Found the table. Empty.
Event editor also empty. What now?

I realise that the default list of events are moved elsewhere and this thru me for a curve for a while.  The default events are probably in the database now, I just never bothered to look for them.

Are you serious?  I've been looking for the default list and it was there but disapeared along with a few custom events that I had made like "work" and "notice"?  I'll try to add the custom events again and see if they stay this time.  [:D]

Ultra Hal 7.0 / More hal 6 problems - Appointment book
« on: November 27, 2005, 03:11:32 pm »
If I set an appointment in hal 6 for 4:00 PM it tells me the appointment is now at 2:00 PM.  If I have a reminder set for 5:00 PM it tells me it reminds me 3:00 PM.

Also, a big problem, when I click on "set user-defined events" it is empty.  Nothing is in there anymore.  Not the settings for appointments, nothing.  I did a uninstall of the new version of version 6 reinstalled and the pre set user-defined events where back.  A reboot later and now it is empty again.  I have no idea why it gets emptied out but it is probably why my times are off...

What should I do?  Go back to five or is there something I can do to keep my events list?  Without this function hal is pretty much useless to me.

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Why does my hal only work when online?
« on: November 26, 2005, 12:36:00 am »
I downloaded version 6 and got my activation code.  If I am not connected to the internet hal will not start (so it won't start at startup).  This is also true of the brain editor.  When not on line I get this error message:

"The copy protection has not been released, but the expiration has. This should never happen. Contact Zabaware. Shutting down."

Why is this?  I would really love for my new hal to work without connecting to the internet.

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Would anyone be interested in programming SHODAN?
« on: July 11, 2005, 07:08:57 pm »
I built my own shodan just so I could have it for myself.  It is simple but I think it's ok.  Works for me, and really that's all that matters right?  I would love any comment just try not to be too hard on me as this is the first agent I have created.

Hello!  Thanks for answering so quickly.  I guess I could always shut off the speach reconition option when just typing with hal and turn it on when I want to talk.

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Halpad popping up... Help?
« on: July 09, 2005, 01:58:43 pm »
I just bought the full version of hal 5.  I did a clean install and every time my computer boots and hal loads this big halpad screen opens with it.  How can I stop that, it annoys me very much.

Another question, when typing to hal in the free version I could take my time say, typing out a doctors appointment.   Now with the full version if I don't type fast enough it's like it presses enter for me, usually half way into "I have an appointment" then I look at my appointment card for the date look back and it has already returned that line which helps  me none.  I have to type my appointments in notepad and copy them over to be fast enough.

Any ideas would be great.  I love the software just not these two things.

<SHOWHAL> Makes Hal's window pop up.

All Hal commands are described by Medeksza over here:

Yeah that's the problem here.  I really don't know much about programming hal and I don't know how to impliment these commands through a script.  I guess I am probably missing something simple.  It's been a very long week.

If anyone can help me out with the script ideas I would much appriciate it.

P.S.

I'm having problems typing right now so my posts may be a little messed up. I sliced my two middle fingers on my left hand in an x-acto knife accident a few days ago.  Had to have my finger prints sown back on. Kind of hard to type.

Hey there,
I am sure there is a script which I could modify which would close Hal for you, I had a thread going last year were if Hal was idle for so many mins he/she would initiate a conversation, I think it would be easy enough to modify it to switch Hal off instead of the other. As for getting Hal to switch on or "wake up at sertain times of day, you will be able to set this up via the Scheduled tasks.
you can find this by clicking the Styart button/Programs/Accessories/System Tools/Scheduled Tasks.

Once opened if you select browse click on my computer/Program Files/Zabaware and select the Ultra Hal icon select the initial time you want Hal to wake up and on the last screen were you see the Finish button put a tick in the Advanced options box and click finish.
Click on the Shedule tab and select Advanced Put a tick in the Repeat Task and select the times you want hal to star. You can also set the task scheduler not to start if Hal is already runnng, this way Hal will not wake up if he/she is already awake. [:D]

Yes, I have tried several of the Auto Idle type scripts and they work great for that, but alas I found that I almost never used them.

I don't want to close the hal program by the way, just close the window as if I had clicked on the close button.

Is there a command to close hals window and if so how could we impliment it into a script like your auto chat.

Programming using the Ultra Hal Brain Editor / Auto-Sleep

Ok, Hello everyone!

Hal has been a great help to me.  I have to multiple medications multiple times a day and if where not for hal to remind me I would miss a dose of my medication.

What I want to do but don't have any programing skills is have a new function called "Auto sleep" where if hal reminds me of a medication he will close his own window if it has been say 5 minutes since anything has been said.  I also want to turn be able to turn this function on or off by typing "autosleep on" or "autosleep off".

Anyone know of a way?
