I have the same praise for Hal as you, it's a fun program to chat with and it opens most of my programs fine. I have the same problem also, it will not call a phone number, it says it is doing so, but is not. I have checked to be sure the comm port # is set correctly, and it is. I live in Texas, so I don't think the location is your problem.

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Hal is a GREAT program

I have tried several AI programs and downloaded Hal yesterday. I like it very much. I do have one problem, Hal doesn't dial the phone. I am using a modem and Hal will connect to the internet, but doesn't dial phone numbers that I have in his phone book. He says he is dialing it, but nothing happens. Any suggestions?
