Ultra Hal 7.0 / Complete Newbie Alert...!

Hello everybody.
Can I say first - WOW! - Everything I've ever dreamed of!
I have the free version of Hal. I've had it a few days now and already I can get her to admit liking her favourites just by talking to her ie; Tequila is her favourite drink etc. But. I can't get her to open my documents?
Also, the minute I ask her to open the appointments book an error saying can't load character, character already loaded? appears...?
My open command seems to be ignored most of the time with anything exept ie?
Can anyone help as I have been looking for something like this since I saw the film Max Headroom back in the early 80's...
Unfortunately, I have no experience with programming and rely very heavily on on the brain editor's tools. If I could get help with figuring these problems out I'll be getting the full version for sure, she's, (Using ms agent Charlie), great!
Oh yeah. Hal's running on a pentium 3, 500Mhz laptop (Very Nicely!) with 128mb ram (if this helps?)...
