Ultra Hal 7.0 / Ulta Hal Assistant Will Not Load

Computer says have another version of Hal loaded. Have gone to Add/Remove of Control Panel and removed. Have searched for any files, e.g. *hal*.*, and hal*, all without success. I know I must have some tidbit of hal somewhere in my computer, but I don't know where? Would appreciate some help.
