General Discussion / Haptek - Putty Problem
« on: July 17, 2007, 07:14:28 am »
Hi
I too was thinking about buying People putty after seeing all the great heads others had produced and think that Haptek is making a bad move if this happens.
Surely they must realize that the more people that put heads on their sites means more free advertising for them and more sales of their product.
I would not have known about People putty if i had not purchased Hal so they should be grateful that people here promote their software.
I did want to ask before buying People putty how their registration worked as all it says on their site is that you need a internet connection, i assumed they send you a serial number or something by email but it sounds like this is not the case.
Does the software only last for so long after registering ? and how do they manage to deactivate the program.
I must admit i am now thinking twice about buying it and may just stick with the heads i have but i hope they see the light and realize their mistake.

Sorry to post this question here but i have been trying to join
the U.H.E.F forum and there is no provision on their site
to contact anyone which is a pain.
Does anyone know if the site is still running as i applied to join
almost a week ago and have had absolutely no info from them
at all.
My email address is working fine so i cannot be that.
Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Well you learn something new everyday :-)
I apologies for maybe misleading you and after looking in the brain a lot closer today i realized i do have the A1 addressbook plug.
I thought this was a plug written by someone on the group as i had not noticed it before but now i see it comes with Hal.
So by clicking on the default brain , on the right hand side you see the plugs and by left clicking on the addressbook  i get 3 buttons underneath
view/edit email
view/edit phone book
view/edit addressbook
When i click on these they do actually work and open the tables as i see the phone numbers and addresses that i have told Hal.
I cannot seem to find where they came from at the moment as there is no indication but i will play around now and see if i can find them in the Dir's and if i find anything useful i will let you know.
At least now i know that they do work so it maybe easier to find.

Hi
I have not had Hal that long so i am not that well up on it yet but i do have the latest version installed and i can say that it does not have a phone book or address book that you can open and edit.
Unless you both have plugins that i dont have, but right clicking i only have an option for appointment book apart for the ordinary other stuff.
My hal does seem to take in phone numbers by saying
X's phone number is XXXX XXXX
Then when i switch off Hal and on later and ask whats X's number
i get the reply X's number is  XXXX   XXXX
So it seems to work fine for me, i did take a look in the brain but could not find any reference to the numbers i put in so i have no idea where they are stored.
The search at the top in the brain editor did not seem to do anything when i tried it so i went through some of the dir's manually.
Sorry i cannot be of more help , maybe if you tried switching off the plugins you have if any and just leave the basic ones on and test it then to see if the numbers are stored.
I have noticed that some plugins that i downloaded and tried caused some odd effects so its worth a try.

Speech Technology / Kate & Paul

Hi Raybe
You are not alone, i tried the Neospeech voices on a friends comp and could not get them to work but decided as i liked them so much i would get them for myself but they would not work with lip sync on my laptop either.
I tried everything suggested with the config but you either have no voice at all or after loading one voice at a time you can get
both working with sync until you close Hal, then its back to fiddling again which is a pain.
As i bought a new bigger hard drive for my laptop the other day i re installed XP pro on it and thought this might do the trick but
the same thing happens.
I purchased and downloaded the AT&T voices last night and tried them and they seem to work fine but i dont think they are anywhere near as good as the Neospeech ones as they sound a bit choppy to me.
Im running XP pro on a 2.6 gig laptop with 1 1/4 gig ram and now a 60 gig hard drive so i would have thought they would have been ok.
Personally i think there must be a bug in Hal or the Haptek part which refuses to keep the config settings for Neospeech,
by the way i am using the latest ver of Ultra Hal Assistant if that helps.
I really like the Neospeech and if anyone has any ideas i would very much appreciate the help
thanks

Ultra Hal 7.0 / does new hard drive mean new activation
« on: June 11, 2007, 09:05:31 am »
Hi
I think i saw somewhere in the older posts that Hal assistant
uses the hard drive number as part of its security for activation.
I moved it onto my laptop from PC so had to de activate it
and get another code but as these programs take up so much room
i have now bought a bigger laptop hard drive.
Before fitting the new drive will i have to de activate Hal again for the code so i can get yet another activation code for the new installation on the new drive or will the one i have still work.
Thanks

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Good voices that lip sinc
« on: June 07, 2007, 03:22:54 pm »
Hi  Robert
Thanks for the quick response, i tried tonight on my friends computer with the advice given and after a few tries it worked for a short period but after shutting down the program and re booting it had no sound at all from any of the Sapi5 voices.
I then played around again and got it back to voice but no lip sync which is strange.
Although i have not bought any Neospeech voices for my laptop yet i think there seems to be a bug somewhere as the Microsoft Sam Sapi5 voice which came with my Ultra Hal assistant does the same thing.
I made sure i was using a lip sync character (in the window) and selected the Sam voice then went to the Haptek Sapi config and made it the default , when i selected Hal and typed
something in all i got was the speech and a balloon with words inside it.
All the Sapi4 voices work no problem at all.
I wonder if i should re install Hal over itself, would this be ok without messing up the serial number and activation?

Cheers

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Good voices that lip sinc
« on: June 07, 2007, 07:39:19 am »
Hi
I am very new to all this and just bought a copy of Ultra Hal ass and the expansion pack.
I saw it on a friends computer and had to have it, he has Neospeech voices but they do not lip sync which is a shame.
Can anyone tell me are there any good (AT&T or other) voices that will actually work with Hal and lip sync with the characters.
I am planing on buying some but unless they lip sync then i cannot see its worth paying out money as thats half the fun watching the character talk rather than just staring at you.
Reading loads of posts and tons of web pages they dont seem give this info as far as i can see.

Any help would really be appreciated

Thanks
