As far as I know, this has never been done, by UltraHal or any other chatbot.  Typically, Facebook chatbots are either Facebook Apps or Facebook Chat, as in instant messaging in the little window.  For any bot to interact properly with Facebook, a complete set API functions, mirroring the functions available to human users, would be necessary.  I haven't spent much time on the Facebook API lately, but assume it's still a limited subset.  The only other way I can think of would be to automate browser macros, using browser testing software, and marry that to the chatbot.  For me both Apps and Chat are a fail, because as you point out the real challenge is to emulate human usage, which includes proactive status updates as well as in-page reactive comments, not to mention PMs.

The real frontier for social bots is not Facebook, but Twitter....   8)

I'm still looking for a decent chatbot system with full audio and video compatibility with Skype.

There is a huge amount of confusion online when people talk about chatbots and Skype.  Chatbots have a long history of IM/XMPP compatibility.  Skype, like Facebook, has an auxiliary IM channel.  I am completely uninterested in IM chatbots for either Skype or Facebook.  I expect full human-like interactivity on social channels.  For instance, on Facebook this would mean proactive timeline posting and reactive commenting, as well as perhaps PM (rather than IM).

I don't know anything about Twitch, but it sounds like IM me.

Robert, I appreciate your updates.  A regular newsletter format might be good too; otherwise, a vlog could be added to your Facebook.  BTW, I miss the Hal Twitter bot.

What I'm really looking for, and what no one seems to be providing yet, is a hosted end-to-end mobile app service where I can completely control the intelligence, customize the avatar, and white label the end product.  (However, I still believe that a Skype-accessible *talking* head could BYPASS APP DEVELOPMENT ALTOGETHER; because, not only any PC, but any smart phone can access Skype.)

I've been talking to Chris Shaw http://chrisshorts.com lately, one of the former principals of Haptek.  He is now involved in a new venture called Xprevo http://xprevo.com (see their early demo video above).  He claims that Xprevo is going to be the new Haptek; however, I'm skeptical, and told him that I was disappointed that no one has stepped into the void left by Haptek, of making a versatile, user-friendly avatar platform for AI. 

I did come across this new avatar system from the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI), EMBR: A Realtime Animation Engine for Interactive Embodied Agents....

I haven't done much actual work yet with avatars or virtual embodiment, other than in SecondLife.  However, Reallusion.com products, such as CrazyTalk (http://reallusion.com/crazytalk), are starting to look pretty good to me.  I would of course be interested in any feedback from those actually using it.  I'm also anxious to learn more about the progress of Robert Medeksza's "Ogre character engine".  There is also Steve DiPaola's http://dipaola.org/lab/research/iface; does anyone here have experience using that?

Robert, what I notice is that you don't seem to have a personal account on Twitter, nor one for your Zabaware company, much less one for people to actually interact with UltraHal on Twitter.  I am very interested in the progress of your "Ogre character engine", and so am also missing a blog updating the project.  I do believe you are right on target with getting Hal working in the cloud and on mobile devices!

Where can I find a brief description of GRETTA?  That seems an odd way to get an audio file..  Why not simply upload it to youtube.com in an audio vid with static pic?  Probably get much more exposure that way..  And why aren't you on Twitter?  For that matter, why isn't GRETTA?  Anway, could you briefly outline how you got GRETTA audio to talk to Jabberwacky audio?
