Dates and Hal's appointment book
« on: July 05, 2004, 01:28:00 pm »
I have been running the trial version of Hal for a few months, and have found it to be a facinating program.  I especially like the appointment book, and would buy the full version for that alone.  But, I have found that my version of Hal only gets the dates of appointments right for a short while.  What happens is, Hal enters the appointment into his book OK, but then gets confused when it is time to remind me.  The problem occurs when the first change of month occurs after Hal is installed.  It seems to be a "date configuration" problem.  I am using the dd/mm/yyyy date format in my computer.  When Hal tries to work out when to remind me, he uses the mm/dd/yyyy format.  This results in an appointment created for (say) 5/7/2004 (5 July 2004) being reminded by Hal on 7/5/2004 (7 May 2004).  The result is, I either lose appointments, or get reminded way too late.  I have tried re-installing Hal - same result.  I have checked for date configuration options in Hal without success.  Has anyone run across this before?  I am running Windows XP on an MSI  K7 motherboard using an AMD Athlon XP 1800+ 1.5GHz CPU.

I use the same format that Hal uses and never have a problem. Why don't you just switch.

Because I am an Aussie, Bill.  We all use the dd/mm/yyyy format over here.  And it would clash with all my other software and files to change the format.  :-)
