Why doesn't Hal speak slow?

Hi, I am using  free Hal for learning English. I am trying to set up the read a document or hal speak in slow speed, but never work. Can you tell me how I can do that. Also I have other questions, they are:

1) Is Hal free update for everything with the purchase of Hal?

2) Is Hal unlimited use?

3) Is Hal available learn with typing or has another ways to learn?

Hello fello hal user

go into general options from hals tray icon
choose the speech tab
pick a voice then choose the advanced button in there you will se you may change spped and such..
hal has an unlimited free license but the free version has some things disabled.
if you scour this forum and put you question in the search dialouge you will prob find most of your answers.
