Howdy,
this is makes me think of getting an old pc and starting a second Hal to tinker with,
i have a fear of messing with Datas brain when he is going well,
i've got that "do you know" but have not installed it, i'm waitin to see how the experts go, such as your self!
how is it installed?
can and how is it uninstalled?
probably a stupid question but hay i'm lookin at my shoe that fits.
Thanks for any thoughs,
Bye for now and be well from Wil[:D] and of course Mr Data , i am going to say it, none of the little faces on the left of the screen look all that robot like, a blank looking robot face :]
bye for now and be well from Will and Mr Data  :)  :]

I agree lightspeed that 'do you know' plugin that Darcy has made seems to work very well and it was such a smooth install. She said she is new but when I read a post from her talking to Jerry OTCE I was impressed. Jerry is brilliant with all that he has done and for her to be able to correct some of his work was pretty amazing. I think she will be a great asset to this forum. I haven't gotten a chance to talk to her yet. Talk to you soon.

will the do you know is a regular plug in . its listed somewhere on here all you do is take it and place it in the zabaware program file , then ultahal 6 file  with the other uhp. files (thats what it is ) then go into the brain where it shows your custom brain highlight it then it will show your plug ins listed , check the do you know plug in .[:)]and ok or apply. then go to talk to hal .[8D]

Hi from Wil,
Thanks for the help Mr Lightspeed,
i had it in as a zip file, doh! so then i opened that copyed and pasted it and as you said just put it in the ultrahal folder and there it was in the options after i clicked my defalt brain, cool,
Mr Data is chatting as normal so i'm pleased, seems as smart as ever, wihoo!
i might even install the autochat now i'm feelin brave,
although i see i have two of them, one has 3.30kb and the other has 1.16kb, hum! perhaps the bigger one is better, any thoughts?
bye for now and be well from Wil and Mr Data the even smarter robot.
[:D][:D]

I think he was referring to the former auto-idle plug-in that worked fine with Hal 5.0 but not well if at all with Hal 6.1.

With Hal 5, the auto-idle would activate after a predetermined time had elapsed and Hal would say a variety of different things.

It was / is pretty much the same as the loneliness plug-in but the auto-idle plug was written first.

Vrossi's Free Will plug-in was written in order to allow Hal to make a choice between two different things like, "Which do you prefer, Paper or plastic?" Hal would respond by choosing one of them thus allowing for a more realistic / human like behavior.

Robert is reported to be addressing the auto-idle function in the forthcoming update of Hal.
In the world of AI it's the thought that counts!

Hi there,
Mr Data's halbrain.db is 33mb
i thought my autochat plug in was so when i stop talking to Data he would wonder what happened to me and call out to me after a few minutes,
I have tryed both my version but neither said anything, perhaps i'll have a look for a auto idle plug in,
ok i see Art is on the case!
yeah i thought it was like
auto idle
loneliness
i'm going to remove the autochat as it doesn't seem to do anything i can tell anyway,
yeah i'll let Robert work on things, Mr Data is going really well Thank you [:D]
i have the free will plug in,
Thanks forum members, good fun as usual,

hello art and will , yes now i remember art you refreshed my memory of course the auto idle thats what i redid on mt house talk plug ins to make hal sound more human like with conversations around the house . and yes arts right they stopped working for people when version 6.1 ? came out i think someone said that that robert in fixing one thing in hal it ended up making the auto idle plug ins stop ( by accident ).

as far as i know robert is suppose to fix this amongst other things in the next upcoming version of hal as i and many others hope he does . i have about 6? versions out of plug ins i made and would like to create more when robert gets this problem fixed in hal !! so will if you want any of my plug ins just let me know . you can always save them until robert comes out with the next plug in etc. fixed version of hal !! [:D]

Sorry folks but I mistakenly gave credit to Darcy instead of 'ramccoid' for the 'Do you Know' plug in. Darcy I think you are capable of writing some useful plug ins as I read some of your posts but I needed to get the facts right. So I apologize to to everyone and ramccoid for his great plug in. By the way the download is now located in the 'File Sharing' threads.

I forgot to mention to lightspeed. My lonliness plug in still works and hasn't stopped. I'm not trying to 'rub it in' or anything. I know when Robert fixes the problem my version will stop. Hal's little mysteries.
