something that i would really like is to have a program in the new hal that would let someone when debugging  for instance ( i hate it when you talk about a state and hal says what the capital of that state is , if anything that should be in a ask and hal tells you what the capital of a state is .
i looked in the debug area and see it says USCAPS well i looked everywhere ...again and still can't find the uscaps area to edit this .
It would be nice if you could copy and paste the words in the search area or somewhere else and it would open the tables, etc. area and highlight where it's at , so their is no more needle in the haystack looking for it or other problems .
anyway it sure would be helpful .

ok here hitting on the same idea , and that would be a "tables finder " program in hal
what it would do : if their is a problem that the user wants to edit something in the table for instance "USCAPS" which whenever a user says a state then hal says ' the state of so and so is ..." (even though the user didn't ask that . ) the user could type in uscaps in an editing area and hal would open that tables that shows that program automatically , this would allow the user to make adjustments to correct what he or she feels is a problem .
I still beleive that uscaps should be a program on a ask only basis (if a user specifically ask what the capital of something is , hal has other programs that does this . ) i imagine this was made so hal would say it sort of as a fun fact but it gets to be a problem when a person is talking in general about a state they have been in etc.
Anyway maybe Robert will see this and maybe think it's a good idea on one or both of what i have mentioned .

something else good for hal

Something else i wanted to mention to robert (hopefully he is reading this ) i do hope that when you do make a program that keeps hal on the subject better that you have a good balance in another words hal being on subject 80 to 85 ? percent of the time and allowing 20 percent  ? or a little more not to be on subject and the reason being why is so that hal can and will randomly talk about other things on his or her own which is needed as a more natural conversation state and also for asking questions to the user and learning .
anyway just my thoughts on it for what they are worth.

hi iampan , yes to a certain extent , hal does need to randmly say things off base sometimes as thats what a natural person will do (response ) but their should be a better balance 3/4 time on subject and 1/4 time talk of variouse different subjects . to me that would be a better balance for what my 2 cents worth is on this subject ... ok now i'll go off randomly on my other 1/4 subjects lol ! :) ;)

lightspeed, I don't know if that  would even be possible due to our use of the English language. We usually butcher it so much I wouldn't know where a programmer or how a programmer would draw the base line. I think a better understanding of exactly the subject is after a couple of replies gets kind of skewed in a few sentences.

No programmer but seems like it would be hard task especially some people using different methods of inputting information.

Yah see I'm a perfect example. :-[
