Well, on the cheap, one could always go with ha Vantec or Sabrent enclosure and a 250 GB SSD and you'd have a nice External SSD drive that you could hook to a laptop or desktop. Then you could rock that boat with Hal!!

Just a thought.

Oh yeah, those enclosures run about $15 - $20 and the SSD can be had for about $75 bucks! (250 GB).

That way you could just keep all your Hal related stuff on the external drive, unhook it when not needed or if wife needed to use the laptop.
TaDa!!

Just planting the seeds of possibilities. ;)

Lonni: Art is spot little brother....

lightspeed: I have played with this myself: 5400 rpm-7400 Cheta drives, 10k rpm Skuzzi's, 15K SAS Platterz 3 gig a sec.
and SSD.
The ssd is the goldstar winner.

Huge speed increase......
Im not big on the usb thumb drives
Once again ART nails it...

Lonnie,

Just a thought...what if you put your Hal's brain on a Flash/thumb drive or move Hal to an SSD? There would be no moving parts, very little latency at all. I think that would prove to be an interesting experiment.

Is anyone running their Hal on/from a Flash drive or SSD (Solid State Drive)?

If so, they would need to have a large brain file for their Hal. Maybe something in excess of 45 megs would be a start.

Ultra Hal Assistant File Sharing Area / Re: S.A.L.L.I.E 3.0

@ Doony,

I've loaded S.A.L.L.I.E.3.0 and it works fine with Hal. I opened/closed and ran it through Hal several times with no hiccups or errors.
Some of the responses were a bit more in-depth or detailed and some were parts of conversations or information I taught it in the past.

So far, so good.

@ Lonnie,

Couldn't you just do a selection then Copy/Paste into the proper area of the new/updated plugin?

I can see that it might pose a problem if your text covers many, many lines. Smaller sections at a time could still work but you'd have to be careful and be mindful of placement when Pasting the text. Yeah...I get that.

Stay tuned....

Ultra Hal Assistant / Re: New Features we would like in HAL 7.1

That might have to do with the position of the character when it (she) was saved within the People Putty program.

Only recourse would be to find a way to modify the .htr file or open the saved haptar in People Putty (if you have a working copy), position it further back and save it.

Try it in the Hal program again to check the location/distance from the screen.

Just my thoughts...
