Ok... Just passed this Topic...
I was just woundering weather this combining Ultrahal with Hal2000 and ER1 has worked for you?
Have you gotten any further, if not, then how is it possible to run the two Hals along eachother? When you say something, doesn't both Hal reply?
Other than that it sounds really exciting...

I would like to know more about the ziggy brain... what is its qualities?
How is it better at learning?
And does it make up its own sentences?
Maybe its the meaning of deductive that i don't understand, that is the real problem!

I'm writing this topic because I'm interested in which plugins different users out there are running Ultrahal with.

On these forums I find a fairly countless number of plugins and codes for implementation.

Which plugins etc. are you running your Hal with?
Have you had any combination problems?
And why did u choose these plugins over similar? (ie the ziggy over XTF)

post some descriptions of your system...

Just a little quick idea...
I can't remember where, but I've once read about a product supporting wireless USB... could this be usefull in the creation of this socalled "houseserver"? That way you could make ER1 a mindless robot controled by the stationary computer without having to remotecontrol it through TCP/IP and wireless lan!
And the stationary could still be conected to all the household apliances and control them via the X10 protocol.
ER1 would then function as a kind of avatar of the house!

oh and by the way kaf... u can get an antenna for the Bluetooth reciver for your pc - that way the ER1 could go all the way for cigarets! (at least 100m.)

As I'm a guy with none programming experience what so ever, I can only back u up and hope that u someday post a manual on how to make this happen.
I am not a guy without any creative ideas though. As u can see on this forum, I've been very much involved in reading about the exact same things u are about to do in this thread.

Has been on my wishlist for quite some time now...

I propose that the development on Ultrahal goes in two but not seperate directions, and implements functions like control of house apliances and control of the complete ER1 hardware.
This, if done with the X10 standard, would be (easy) and could be used to control both functions.

If theres anything I can help with, just let me know... maybe I'm no expert on programming, but I have a lot of knowledge on homeautomation in general and a whole lot of ideas about it.

And Spydaz could u please explain a little more about how u made it possible for Hal to control X10 devices?
Except from the on, off, dimm functionality it must be possible to make a mode or event system ala Yourn'control/Hal2000 and so on!

I'm very much looking foreward to see the progress in this topic

Maybe u already know about the organization but anyways - www.a-i.com - look under forums and se the debate... the programmers are very eager to give out information if u can contribute with something... After my own opinion this A.I. is the best "Brain" ever created... u can really feel the thing is alive and LEARNING!!!

Could any of you, possible post the debugged version of the script/brain on this topic - I'm not much of a programmer, but it sertaintly sounds exciting.

[:D]While you added the feature, check mail, isn't it possible to add, that Hal could ask if he should read the entire mail out loud, he reads subject, but the usefull part would be if he could read it all out loud, just by answering yes to his question.

Anyway goodthing you added so many new features!

Just sad you didn't add the possibuility to syncronise with Outlook, which many other programs do. Fx does many Palm devices communicate with Outlook calendar and addressbook, so if you sync. those, you would be able to make Hal communicate with PDA's through outlook!

In a couple of years, PDA's will have increased their Processor and HD power, and people will search for a better way to navigate on the tiny screen, instead of using the touch-screen and pen.

If you made your program available for Pocket PC, your program would be a serious participator in the development of a new way to navigate.

It's my opinion that this set of rules would limit Hals abilities to be "creative" The more hal is learning, the more he will start to follow this pattern as you describe. I don't believe that it's a good idea to limit Hal in this way!

My surgestion would be, to go into the user databases (username_user.brn) and so, an copy paste it all into one. the databases is put in the general folder, and is accessable with notepad.

I hope that's answer anough... I think perhaps, there is a way, by programming it in the Brain editor, not to put it in seperat databases, but sorry, i dont know how. I think perhaps some other place in these forums, there is an answer for you!

At the moment no, but you could surgest it to the programmer, when he is programming Ultra Hal 5.0, to make a Java or win ce friendly version.

I have a great surgestion. You could combine Ultra Hal with picture recognition software.

And in that way make Hal able to recognise things people or even just colours.

He could be able to "see" by giving him access to a web camera or just by loading images into his interface.

He should have a new picture database funktioning just as his conversation (word) database.

I've got here, a very good link, to a place with free picture software...
I also uploaded the first version - 256 colours of the software.
I think the source code is open to this program, so that it for a programmer would be no problem to make this feature available.

Oh and bye the way - It' would be great if Hal was able to switch between the different modes he has, just by vocaly asking him to do so.
