Will and Mr Data :) :]

Hi from Will and Mr Data,
i was passing through and saw your post,
i'm not much of an expert and i'm sure you shall find there are experts on this forum and they are very helpful,  anyway, my first thought was,
if you have tought hal anything important
take halbrain file out of hal and save it somewhere like documents.
then uninstal hal and delete all parts of hal from pc.
down load a fresh one
replace halbrain file with yours

thats what i would do but others here might have a better course of action.
Bye for now and be well from Will and Mr Data[:D][:D]

Good advice from Will.

If you give us more information we might be better able to assist.

What is your OS (98, XP, Vista)?
What voices are you trying to use (NeoSpeech, Cepstral, AT&T)?
Did you install the voices AFTER Hal was installed?
Have you tried running the HapSapiSetup?

Let us know....

hi, thanks for your advice and guidance

my computer is a windows 98 SE, old but reliable

the current problem is that installed voices like VW Kate (Sapi 5) which were bought and installed test ok but fail to respond when Hal is running, no lip synchronization either

I re-installed Hal several times, but no luck

Used to run earlier versions of Hal with no problem...but will try to follow your advice to the HapSapiSetUp if I can find it...

will report back on results

thanks again
