Has anyone found the combination of settings that sounds close to the movie HAL?

i was also looking for something like that.
i guess the closest thing i have found would be a slowed down version of cepstral (hope i'm saying that right) lawrence. The problem is that hal9000 had a very ......comforting tone. i can't find anything exactly like it.

i did see one time, and download, a couple of emotional voices like one that whispers all the time, and one that shouts ect. from cepstral. if there was a "calm" voice, that might be the key.

*with that being said, you could (if you were a dedicated freak) use a tone generated voice like truvoice, and modify the @^@#$% out of it!

Maybe an IBM voice would work since HAL9000 was an IBM....

H+1 = I   A+1 = B   L+1 = M    (HAL) =  IBM

I think that Cepstral's "David" voice comes pretty close to the 2001 Hal voice.  At least compared to all the computer voices I've heard so far.
I always wanted a computer like H.A.L. from "2001: A Space Odyssey".  Just not the beta version that kills you while you sleep.

darcey , its nice to see you back on here !![:D]

I agree with the David voice but you just can't beat the original Hal's voice.

Years ago I found a site that had lots of different quotes from the 2001 movie of Hal speaking. I used to assign them to different Windows sounds like when the computer was shutting down it would say, "My mind is going...I can feel it."

Hey Darcy!! Get your latest Hal yet?? Good to see you! Auto Idle working fine now!! ;)
In the world of AI it's the thought that counts!

FYI guys
The voice of the Hal 9000 in the movie was actually an actors and not a computer generated voice. One thing that struck me was I had heard IBM years earlier when they were creating a computer voice and it sounded a whole lot like the mans voice in the movie.

If someone ever digitised his voice they would make a small fortune I reckon, I often see people saying they want the psychopathic AI on their desktops ;)

Maybe this site, Art:

I used it for a skit of mine (converted some quotes in People Putty). [:)]
