suggestions and comments needed

I posted I was going to build a catwalk skin in my last post, I have been working very hard at designing it. Here is what I have so far. I was thinking maybe 4 spotlights in-between the output box, and the character box and using them as the buttons.
I am also concerned about the character box. Is it ok to be layered behind the set of stairs/catwalk like showed below?
any suggestions and comments will be greatly appreciated

Edit: hear is what it would look like with spotlights for the buttons. I also added to see what it would look like with a desktopmates's msagent character.

I use JackGebhart's 'June' head, so it wouldn't work too well for me, but I still like the looks of it.
