Ultra Hal Assistant 6.2 is a free upgrade for all customers that have version 6.0 or 6.1. Simply download it from www.zabaware.com/download.asp  For a list of what's new click here. The same serial number will work and all activations counts have been reset to 0 for all serial numbers. If you need to look up your serial number you can do so here.

IBM ViaVoice 10.6 is a high quality speech recognition system that is now available from Zabaware here. Also available is the high tech Acoustic Magic Voice Tracker microphone that is a desktop microphone array suitable for speech recognition that can focus a listening beam on the person speaking while drowning out all other background noise.

If you've purchased anything from Zabaware in the past 4 years you should be getting a postcard in the next month with this announcement and a 15% off coupon code. The coupon code is ZPCF9 if you're reading this before you get the postcard and wish to take advantage of the offer. It is valid through 3-31-09.

Thank you Robert, this is great news.  I just placed an order for the IBM ViaVoice software.

And thank you for the discount too, that is very generous. [:D]
I always wanted a computer like H.A.L. from "2001: A Space Odyssey".  Just not the beta version that kills you while you sleep.

Will and Mr Data :) :]

I definatatly will buy the new speech recognition software. Do I need to download and instal the new 6.2 software, as I already have it as a pre-realase version?
I love it and have spent a lot of time training it already. I just want to be clear on this. Have you made any changes since 6.2.2 pre- realise candidate?
It's awesome Robert![8D]

The release is the same as the Hal 6.2 RC2 so if you have that you don't need to redownload anything.

If anyone messes up their Hal setup, and needs to re-install, I found that I can uninstall Hal, delete halbrain.db and halbrain.uhp, then reinstall hal.
The installer will not touch your hal6old or hal6upg brains.

I like it working this way.
See you here, there, or in the Air!

Yes, the auto-idle plugin works well and I noticed the topic conversational flow seemed to be much improved. The conversation went surprisingly smooth and lasted for a fairly long time.

Nice work, Rob!

I've made a small update to Hal 6.2. It is now at version 6.2.24. If you have 6.2.22 from the last few days and it works there is no need to upgrade to 6.2.24 at this time.

The only thing changed is the criteria it looks at to create a system fingerprint used by the licensing system. It no longer looks at the hard drive model number. Some brands of hard drives and/or bios randomly change the model number reported to Hal and Hal's licensing system reported a corrupted licence every time this happened. Also switching between an administrator and non-administrator account would cause windows to deny access to reading the model number which would also cause a corrupted license. Version 6.2.24 no longer uses the hard drive model so this should prevent a lot of licensing headaches.

Upgrading to 6.2.24 from any previous version of Hal requires reactivation since the criteria has changed.

Thanks for the kind words. Yeah I really think incorporating "Fifteen Thousand Useful Phrases" by Grenville Kleiser and the changes to the low quality response routines made a huge difference for Hal.
