I have the free Ultra hal 5.0 and bought the latest version (it is in the mail now).  I see a lot of posts about changing character skins.  Is there a faq or post somewhere to help me understand how you folks are doing that?  Thanks for any help.

Just go back and read dozens of threads that have been posted in the last few months. It's all there.

O.K., it seems as though it has something to do with really distorted looking jpg files, and that each character has some of these files in their directory.  Is it as simple as adding the files to the directory?  It seems as though the posts assume that you already know how to add these skins to the character.

Hi jhm, yes, the body texture is stretched out and then wrapped around the figure, thats why it looks odd.

There's many ways to use them depending on what you are doing.

try search for 'textures'.

Also if you get the idea and what to go further, there's a tutorial page here  http://www.forum30.olicentral.com/digitalgirl2/index.php?PHPSESSID=a3731e8bc90dbf9c8d320ccb886b1bf7&topic=96.0

This is on our outside forum, where we've been gathering useful info etc.

Thanks for the help file.  I have one other question. The help file says to download the fullbodydemo from Haptek.  I searched their web site, and didn't see a download.  I ran the demo and looked for the files on my computer in temporary folders and couldn't find them.  Is there any other place to find the fullbodydemo files?  Thanks again for the help.

Thanks for all the help.  I am still waiting for the full version to arrive, and all I have to play with is the free version of Ultra Hal.  From reading the forums, it seems that you must have the full version in   order to the fullbodygirl to register as a character, so right now I am biding my time by looking for skins.  I have found quite a few here and at Digital Girl formum.  I found the trick to opening the haptek console, and can make it speak by sending text in the box but that is about all I can figure out to do with it for now.  I am sure I will be asking for more help when I get the program installed.  Thanks again for helping.

jhm1953, just drag and drop the haptar with the fullbodygirl into the Haptek console. As far as I know it should work in the demo version just as well.

Thanks for the last comment.  I had one of those "A-Ha!" moments when I thought about the last comment.  When I open Ultra Hal, the fullbodygirl is not one of the characters listed in the options, but I was able to open the haptek console inside of Ultra Hal's window by using the mouse easter-egg clicking thing listed in another message here somewhere, then it was as simple as dragging the character out of the screen that shows up as the default character, and dropping fullbodygirl into the opened haptek console, and "Wha-la" , there was full body girl inside of ultra hal speaking to me.  I may be able to get the hang of this thing yet!

Jhm

Cant remember exactly where it is so your gona have to do the leg work yourself I'm afraid [:D]

Do a search for Crunch, a wonderful graphics artist who is sadly lost within the cybertech world of the net at moment..may he return soon.

he wrote a full tutorial on getting the haptek characters to work within the free version.

if you cant find it (and ill know if you have looked lol) send me an email and ill explain it all for you.

Happy playing
