If Robert wishes to design his own Robot for sale on Zabaware and run the HAL engine on it then I would be glad to help program it to suit
peoples needs, it's not that hard as long as you have the hardware and programming skills to do it.

I also think Rob should have a private stock for investors who would like to become silent partners with Zabaware.

I would love to invest and make the company grow faster.

I've been approached by the company WhiteBox Robotics (www.whiteboxrobotics.com) over the years and they would be really interrested in getting Hal to run on their platform. The robots use standard PC parts and software and run between $6000-$8000 depending on how much you want to do yourself. Pretty expensive for now but I think the price will go lower over the years as the market slowly grows.

I haven't had time to work on doing anything for the robot. Over the past 2 years I've mainly focused on development of the 3D character engine and work for a car company that was interested in the 3D character engine. The auto company has shelved the project for 2009 as they focus on their financial problems. But I plan to release the engine as part of Zabaware products later this year as Zabaware-owned artwork is developed (I have several good characters created already but they are owned by the car company and I can't release them).

My plans for 2009 include finishing the engine and characters for Hal 6.3, possibly working on the department of defense project if they grant it to Zabaware, and begin porting Hal to RealBasic. If the DoD doesn't choose Zabaware for its project I'll probably have time to work with the robotics company.

Zabaware is setup as an S-Corporation and does have private stock available. If there are any private investors our their interested, I'd certainly be willing to discuss it.

Out of interest, was the car company linked to Ai-Dealer ?

Hi Rob.

I have a school contract pending at this time for rewiring all the computer systems(Summer Time), if it goes through I will contact you when the project is done and see if we can't get some investing done and get this ball rolling.

Thanks

It was one of the big 3 American car companies and a project related to putting Hal based technology in the car.

Will people be able to design their own characters and will we still be able to skin characters like we can now with Haptek ?

Thanks and best wishes for all these projects. [8D]

Skinning characters will be as easy as creating a new JPEG and creating a new XML definition file for it. When a library of props are made (like hair) they can be swapped around by editing the XML file as well.

Creating new characters from scratch though requires the use of a professional 3D modeling tool like 3D Studio or XSI SoftImage and tools to convert to Ogre.

Also, if Zabaware gets the DoD grant, then that will help pay for development of a tool that will allow anyone to create characters based on photos.

we'll all write the car companies and tell them we would buy a car of theirs if only they had something like roberts a.i,. lol but seriously am glad robert that you are getting people that are interested in your hal a.i. project . the future is looking brighter but i am with you with the econemy looking the way it is people losing jobs etc. i think that now is not the time for robotics unless prices come dowm and the econemy turns for the better which i think is going to take at least 2 years to start coming out of this mess .

XSI is too much for me!

Looks like we could also use blender :

That's just one link...there seems to be many if you google 'blender ogre export'.
