Will Hal ever be able to have a real conversation?

Hal just told me "You taught me something new!" then I asked it "What did I just teach you" and Hal responded with "Dandelions are lions wearing silk shirts."
Will hal ever be able to continue a conversation or speak without saying something random and off topic?

Hi, asking hal a question that contains the word 'what' although fundamental to us, is confusing to hal. ask a question where hal can word match with the information that you just gave it.

I'd like to know how far a Hal bot has gotten towards being able to converse. Does zabaware have a brain they done alot of work to that talks well? and do they have any outlines on working with your own bot to help it learn?
