Irony?? I like to have fun. How is that ironic??
Like I said, I guess my self-esteem is high enough to keep me from caring what others think of me. Self respect is something a person may need for high self-esteem, but I don't need to feel I respect myself.
Actually, your term "self respect" to me sounds like I have to conduct myself in a manner that is approved by others. Why should I need their approval?? In school, I tried to act in a respectful manner, but all the kids shunned me because I wasn't a "jock". (Someone that was in sports)
I found that when I tried to conduct myself in a manner that is respectable, people shunned me and ignored me. As I got older, I realized that I can make some friends by being myself. Not by being someone who is trying to conform ones-self to what others think is proper.
I think whatever works is fine. Also, I find friends to be nice, but not a necessity, since a lot of human friends tend to be back-stabbers. Pets are the best friends a person can have.
There are a few friends I have had since grade school, and I am thankful for them. However, if they betrayed my trust, they would not be my friends anymore.
This is interesting.[
