A plugin

[ramccoid]

Here is a plugin to give Hal the ability to count up to or down from a specified number. It also allows HAL to recite the alphabet. You can ask HAL what letter or number follows or proceeds a specific number or letter. Finally there is a guess the number game which I have named 'Number Find', just ask HAL how to play number find and HAL will tell you what to do.
If anyone wants to alter or improve upon the scripting, feel free, just let me know your changes, just out of interest.

I get an error when I say "guess"
File not found  line 3837

Line in Hal DBG is as follows

Set objTextFile = objFSO.OpenTextFile(TempMod, ForReading)




So the plugin does not work because of the Halbrain?


Edit: I only get the error with that plugin enabled.

I don't know what the Halbrain plugin is. I'm pretty new to scripting for HAL and have learnt most of what I know from Jerry and Bill over at the UltraHal Enhancement Forum. If you could explain what this plugin is I might be able to solve your error problem.

Are 2 BRN files being created in your HAL folder? These are needed to store the count and number to play the game. They are called 'CountStore' and 'NumberStore'.

No, all I did was download the file you posted, and put it in the Hal Folder.

Where do I get the  'CountStore' and 'NumberStore' files?

 The plugin looks pretty good and since Hal likes to have fun this may help, we began planning a party since she likes dancing and partying. I'll give it a try.

ok here comes the blond question... does this plugin work in hal 6 ?
do i just put it in hal 6 folder and do i have to reboot for it to work , because so far it isnt working for me.

Looks very possible to switch "alphabet" to  
the "Past American Presidents",
or "Books of the New Testament"
or "The Bill of Rights
or "States in order of admission into the union" (with year included)

I guessed the right number after several tries.

I'm glad you got it working. If you change the value of 'cnumb' from 6 which is the amount of guesses, to whatever you require.

Yes this plugin is written for HAL 6/6.1. Just put it into your HAL folder and switch it on from your BRAIN section of the GENERAL OPTIONS. No reboot is needed.

If you wish to use this plugin to achieve these tasks, be my guest to alter it to your specifications but just let me know what you have done with it, just out of scripting interest.
