Hi Snowwhite,
Good to see you back. [:)]
Skins look good, I see you getting the hang of things.
One thing though, if you drop some of the skins on a body she will have no teeth !!
You have to flip the teeth or head skin over so the teeth are on the r/hand side not the left where some are.
I am honoured that you are using some of my putty heads, thanks.

Exactly which files do I need to get if I simply want to use these as a character for Hal?

I am no good with graphics, and need a 'Just drop it in' setup.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Snowey,
Check the picture below, It should show you the way they should be.
You will have to check them all & correct which ones that are wrong.

CypherGary===  I cant realy help you on that one, I have just re-installed Hal & have to figure that out myself.
Do a search, I know there is a lot telling you what you need to do.

If you know how you want your model to look & have all the relevant htr's & skin I can put them into one htr so that every time you open it you don't need to drag n drop everything onto it.
If that is the case mail me through my profile & we can work it out.

I believe the drag and drop setup you are refering to is to view the character in the Haptek player, or Haptek People Putty.

I use Hal6, and need to know how to get characters to be used as my Hal assistant.

I'll look around the forum a little better to see what I can find.

Gary,

What Nige was showing was just the top portion of the graphic head image to illustrate proper placement for teeth.

If the head of your Hal character is similar, you can drag and drop a new .jpg head image onto the Hal window and achieve the desired changes on the fly.

Same goes with the full body characters.

The user will also need the Character Expansion Pack in order to add more characters to Hal (other than the default ones).

Good luck!

Snowwhite::::
Just check them all & change the ones that need changing.

Gary::::::
Look in your hal folder, open the character folder.
You will see that for every model there are 3 pics for them & also your model htr.
1/ a head pic.
2/ a background pic.
3/ a start splash pic.
Make one of each with your character & that should be it.
That's all i did & my girl shows up....

Like Art said you need the expansion pack to be able to add other models.

I see each Head, Background, and Splash .jpg files, but I also see a .htr file for each. What all is in this file?

Thanks for helping.

Gary,

The .htr file is the actual character file with the various settings for the geometry and features of that individual character.

The names for the files should all contain the same name like Katie.jpg, KatieBack.jpg...etc.

When one uses People Putty to design a custom character head (People Putty can only do heads...not torso or full body), it saves the file with a .haptar extension.

One would simply locate that file and rename the extension to .htr.

Any .htr can be double clicked on and will show in the Haptek console and can be drag / dropped into the Hal window as well.
