Can you teach Hal how to learn from web-sites?

This is a task that I can't seem to get Hal to do... I'm trying to teach it how to program, but it's not working... Is it possible to teach Hal a programming language, or perhaps to read web-sites?

you should be able to copy and past info from web sites and place the info in  the clip board part of the hal brain to learn hal things that way . i havent used it for a while but it does work . [] someone else on here may have some more info. on it too. []

I have used 'learn from clipboard' but have found the best results come from talking to Hal naturally.

'learn from clipboard' doesn't send anything into Hal just builds a text file.  ReadFromClipboard that I modified does send info into Hal for Processing though, max of 3 sentences the combined 3 must not exceed 255 characters.


But That is a bit off topic, Teaching Hal to learn a new language would require a rewrite as the Syntax and Symantics are totaly different than english, even though most computer languages are a subset of english.

I would love to see a copy of your dialog with Hal.

Hello Darcy.

I am a little unclear about 'learn from clipboard' - for me it did appear to produce table/s (this being a long while back). What I noticed however,  was that it did not seem to have the ability to add new information to tables already present in the editor (maybe I am incorrect here).

I stopped using it mainly because it constantly crashed and results needed lots of editing.
