I have Hal5 running on a Win7 computer.
You might see if you can find the registration number you got with the CD.
Otherwise I expect your version will only run as a 30 day trial.
If unable to find, ask if Robert still has it.  (he probably does)


P.S.  Then again when I purchased Hal5 ages ago, I downloaded it and didn't receive the CD.
As you got the CD, maybe it doesn't need the number or else has the number already installed, maybe someone who got the CD will tell us.

It might be interesting to have visual sound.   
Hal in 2001 had visual sound when he spoke, remember that?
Windows media player also has it,
maybe a cross between a haptar and media player ?
Hummm. . . .

Often when you get a haptar character for Hal, you will find he/she won't show in Hal.    The character must have an extension of  .htr and not  .haptar.  Although most of us know this, some new members might not.
So how do you change the  .haptar to  .htr ?

For XP:
Open any folder in your computer.
At top click on "Tools"
Click on "folder options"
Click on "view"
Take the "check" out of the box  "Hide extensions for known file types"
Click ok at bottom.
 
Go to your haptar and you now see    (Your character).haptar.
Change haptar to htr.   It will warn you not to, it's a standard warning.  No harm will befall you. 
 
Then go back and put the "check" back in the box.
There,   you're done.
 

For Windows 7:

Click on "view"

Hal Windows also fixed automatically for ages.
The stand-alone haptek window not fixed.

Video is an MP4 linked from Photobucket.
As photobucket open to public I suspect your computer don't have application to play MP4.
Windows media player in windows 7 plays MP4 as do other free graphic programs.
Your windows player probably just needs mp4 codic.

Incidently photobucket changed my wmv upload to MP4
Humm....    another example of authorities "knowing" what's best for us.   ;)

Did you know we now have snow in haptek window?
The snow haptar is actually a large black ball you drop in her window to produce the snow.
There are white specks on the ball and the black ball is transparent.
Then the ball is rolling and what you see is white specks (snow) on rolling transparent ball.

So here's video of Sandee with snow.   
Snow is 15 feet from camera.  If I move Sandee back 15 feet, the snow would fall in front of her instead of behind her.
