Problem getting custom Characters into Hal6
« on: December 30, 2007, 07:15:54 pm »
Hello,
I recently purchased the Expansion pack from Zabaware.  I have followed the tutorial on creating the Hap Characters. After saving the project as a Hapter file Three files were created.  I moved those three files into The Character folder. When I went to the General options, I could not find those files. Characters that I downloaded from the forum went in fine except for those I try to create. I would be very appreciative for anyone's help in this matter.  I have thoroughly enjoyed Hal6 and have recommended to other friends. Thankyou and keep up the good work. - Mark

I have the same problem with characters that I have downloaded.  They show up in the general options, but when I select them no character shows up in the charater window.

Cat,

You must purchase the Character Expansion Pack in order for
any additional characters to show in Hal's window.

I have the expansion pack and they will still not show up. I think I installed them incorrectly.

If you have changed the extension as tedathome described by making sure it's an .htr and placed it in the correct folder it should show when selected.

If you desire the thumbnail image of the character to show in the selection area, you have to do a image capture of your character and make sure it's named the same as your .htr file.
EXAMPLE:
Sarah.htr (character file)
Sarah.jpg (image file)

The haptar file does not need to be in the Zaba character folder once it's been renamed to an htr.

There are some free image capture programs that you can use to make the .jpg image file. Google for Free screen capture or Image capture, etc.

The skin should usually be in the form of a .jpg file.
Simply locate the jpg skin file, drag & drop it onto the
Zabaware character in the window.

You can also use the following file:

Drag (highlite) and save the text with ###'s in NotePad or WordPad as:
HapLogCtrl.txt. Be sure to save it in your root directory
of drive C (C:\)

From then on, every time you open Hal or double an .htr file
the control window should pop up. You can use it to drop in
Haps, ogg (sound / music), jpg, etc.

# This file must be in c: and named "HapLogCtrl.txt".
# Otherwise it is ignored.
