I just heard back from haptek. Here is the response I got.
The print in red is their response to each question/issue.

Hi Tom,
What did the license error say? Did it say "cancelled due to over use" or some other message?

Please tell Jack Gephart to take the extended download service up with Digital River. I don't know of any reason for a license to suddenly become expired if there were no changes made to the PC in question. Can he contact me? Did he do any thing like change his new PC's OS or HD?

Hopefully we can handle each case on an individual basis. If you're in contact with these people please encourage them to contact our support channel. Some of these isses may have resulted from our recently moving our servers. We'll get this stuff worked out and sorry for any difficulties this may have caused.
Sincerely,
Jack

So I guess everyone can keep there web pages of
Putty heads and skins right where they are for now. [

]
That is, as long as no one is selling them. Which
I was told before, would be a definite violation of
the non-commercial EULA that we agree to when we
purchase anything haptek.
If anyone else is having a problem
they can email there questions to - support@haptek.com
If you purchased the extended download service through
digitalriver when you bought PeoplePutty, you will have
to email the support service at digitalriver to resolve
the problem. Hopefully digitalriver will be as willing
to help with any problems you are having.
